The Gentlemen's Club Expo 2017
By: Ms. Misha Morê
The Annual Gentlemen's Club EXPO is the only national convention and tradeshow for the multi-billion dollar adult nightclub industry and is produced by ED Publications, the industry's trade magazine for the past 25 years. EXPO attendees can count on three days of must-attend workshops and panel sessions geared toward club owners, general managers and other key club personnel; two days of 120-booth Tradeshow showcasing their latest products and services; two official evening parties that are equal parts networking and enjoyable fun; and the Annual ED Awards Show honoring the industry's top adult nightclubs and entertainers.
The Opening Night Party was at a private Vanity Nightclub sponsored by Jevo's, Monroe's of Palm Beach, and MAL Entertainment and it seemed like the entire Exotic Dance Industry was there and the place was packed the entire time. At the Opening Night Party, the following awards were presented: Club Employee of the Year won by Taryn Cording of Monroe's of Palm Beach, DJ of the Year won by Danny Meyers, General Manager of the Year won by Shawn Barnes, Urban Club of the Year won by Club Babes, Atlanta, International Club of the Year won by String Showbar, Oslo, Norway, first-ever International Showgirl of the Year won by Delilah Daniels, Newcomer Feature Entertainer of the Year won by Reya Sunshine, Adult Movie Feature Entertainer of the Year won by Sophie Dee, and Miss ExoticDancer.com of the Year won by Angel Beau.
The backbone of the Annual EXPO is the Tradeshow that ran for two days with vendors showcasing their latest products and services. This year's newest showcase offering were VRClubz and Gold Club San Francisco VR debut that demonstrated a very unique & immersive VR experiences for either your headsets or gamer PC's. Several high-end liquor producers were also on hand.
The Mainstage was jam packed with some of the industry's top DJs with non stop dance performances from seasoned entertainers and club house dancers.
This year’s Awards Show featured the three amazing feature entertainer nominees performances and Las Vegas’ world-renown “junk rock” phenomenon, Recycled Percussion, who performed throughout the show at the Hard Rock's Joint Theater.
The evening's biggest awards were Angela Sommers, who took home the Overall Entertainer of the Year Award, the Penthouse Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which was honored with the Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year Award, and Rick’s Cabaret/RCI Hospitality, which earned the Club Chain of the Year Award.
The $10,000 EXPO Bikini Contest was presented by Platinum 84 in Denver and co-sponsored by Associated Agencies that was another convention highlight as 75 gorgeous ladies from across the U.S. and from as far away as Australia and New Zealand competed in the event hosted at the world-famous Rehab Pool at the Hard Rock. Aja Marie, an entertainer from the Penthouse Club in New Orleans, took home first place and $3,000 in cash, while her “home” club received $3,000 in advertising with ED Publications. The contest was co-hosted by Ronnie "The Limo Driver" Mund from the Howard Stern Show.
The Closing Night "Global Showcase" Party was hosted by Spearmint Rhino Vegas with international entertainers from around the world. First on stage was New Zealand's Bambi Wilde. Bambi Wilde was followed by Annie Lane. Next up was the sultry Canadian Janine Jericho followed by an appearance of Simone Danalustrous. The next performance was Australia's Morgan Sommers with her great pole work rendition. The final performance was done by Lacey Rain with ninja nunchucks. Everyone was able to celebrate 25 years of industry history in style.
And, I wish to acknowledge and thank my assistant, Jim without whose help and support with covering events and features this would not have been possible, and Josh for his artistic talent and skills in making the layout picture-perfect. I look forward to making next year's EXPO an even successful event.
